Many companies have joined the race to create their own "Metaverse" but till there still no true example of the metaverse.
Because of the emphasis on 3D virtual reality, video games offer the closest metaverse experience currently. This point isn’t just because they are 3D, though. Video games now offer services and features that cross over into other aspects of our lives. Take a look at the leading metaverses and what experience they offer.
Decentraland
Decentraland is a virtual reality (VR) space founded in 2017 where users can create content, interact with one another, and earn money, primarily through investments in non-fungible tokens (NFTs), VR real estate, and other digital assets.
The platform is fully decentralized and operates via its own cryptocurrency called MANA. It is also a favorite among large investors, enterprises, and governments, in fact, Samsung launched their own metaverse store in Decentraland.
Decentraland allows users to place 3D models in the space using a simple drag and drop builder tool. For professionals, Decentraland offers an SDK tool to generate interactive content: Users can import 3D models into Decentraland, and code advanced applications, games, and animations.

The Sandbox
Sandbox is a gaming environment founded in 2012. in Sandox users can create games, participate in events, navigate VR worlds using maps, and purchase land, similar to Decentraland. It also has its own cryptocurrency token called SAND.
The Sandbox Game Maker Alpha is free game design software that allows creators to build 3D voxel worlds from templates and speed the game development.

Somnium Space Was fully launched in 2017 and uses the token called Somnium Space CUBEs. The space is used through VR, PC and Web, which is usable even on mobile. The highest focus is on the VR experience.The Somnium Builder allows users to carve their own place from already generated assets. Meanwhile, a Unity SDK is in the works.
